Sim Schedule
We sim every Tuesday/Friday/Sunday and you can usually find the schedule posted under 'League News' or on the main page above the chat box.
After July 31st we reserve the right to go to daily simming if we feel it's in the best interest of the league. Please be sure to check the posted sim schedule under 'League News' if you are unsure.
If you miss 1 Line-up you are placed on probation. If you miss a 2nd line-up the administrators reserve the right to replace you as GM. If you need to go on vacation or an emergency comes up please pots in the Leaving/Vacation forum and you will be A-OK.
Position Changes
Post in the 'Position Changes'. An admin reserves the right to veto any position change if we find it unrealistic or falls under the 'Don't Be An Ass' rule listed below
Waivers
Any player may be placed on waivers at any team. The GM is responsible for posting if it's revocable or irrevocable waivers.
Once a player is waived the team who claims the player with the lowest overall record for the current season will be awarded the claim after 24 hours. The waiving team then has the following options:
1. Work out a trade with the claiming team within 48 hours
2. Rescind the request and keep the player
3. Do nothing and allow the claiming team to be awarded the player
If a player is placed on irrevocable waivers he is released after 24 hours or moved to the claiming team.
When trading for a waiver player the returning players must be below 75 overall OR have fewer than 3 years in the league (since being drafted)
International Free Agency (IFAs)
Every offseason we will use randomizer.org to determine how many IFA's we will have each year (3-10). We will randomly decide how many Cuban, Dominican, Japanese, Venezuelan, etc. IFA's comprise those IFA's.
IF
-The player is a Japanese player subject to the posting system he will be posted and awarded in the offseason.
-The player is any other type of IFA he will not be posted until July 2nd and will not be awarded until July 31st.
Once an IFA is posted you get a brief description of the player as well as a bio. If you're interested in pursuing an IFA you MUST post a reply in the thread as well as the scouting fee ($1M - $8M depending on the player and information provided).
The scouting fee provides you more detailed information about the prospect as well as a vitals range (For Example: Contact: 85 (+/-5). If you like what you see at this stage you can choose to make a bid on the player.
Players who are expected to spend time in the minor leagues require a CASH bid and will receive a draft day contract. The team with the highest cash bid will win the rights to the IFA.
Players who are expected to make an impact at the major league level soon require a CONTRACT bid and will be awarded to the team with the best contract offer.
No option years are allowed for IFA contract bids. Max of 10 year offers
Consult the sim schedule under 'League News' for the deadlines for IFA's each season.
Winterball
It costs 10M to send a player to winterball. Player's attending winterball MUST BE:
-23 years old or younger
-Never attended winterball previously
-79 overall or lower
To determine how many players a team can send to winterball:
- Under .400 winning %: Four WB Slots
- Between .401 - .550 winning %: Three WB Slot
- Between .551-.620 winning %: Two WB Slot
- Over .620 winning%: One WB Slot
Results will be input on March 1st and are produced by randomizer.org based on the following outcomes:
1: Career ending injury
2: 500 day injury
3-4: 200 day injury
5-10: 50 day injury
11-45: No change
46-140: +1 predicted
141-175: +1 predicted, +1 peak
176-185: +2 predicted, +1 peak
186-195: +2 predicted, +2 peak
196-200: +3 predicted, +2 peak
Free Agency
An easier way to understand the 72 Hour rule is this. To sign a Free Agent during the offseason two requirements must be met:
1) 72 hours have passed since the start of Free Agency
2) 24 hours have passed since the last offer was made on the Free Agent
After both requirements have met the player will sign with your team. After the initial 72 hours the player only needs to have an offer older than 24 hours to sign. If you have any questions about this please PM an admin.
During any other part of the season highest total bid wins after 24 hours have gone by without a better bid being made. Team options DO NOT count towards the total bid but player options DO count towards the total bid.
Minim Bids Per Years
1yrs - No Min.
2yrs - 1M
3yrs - 2M
4yrs - 3M
5yrs - 5M
6yrs - 7M
7yrs - 10M
Bidding on Players over Age 30
If you wish to bid on a player over age 30 you're limited to 7 year deals and contracts that run through age 38. If the player is 37 or older, he will only sign a max of 2 years.
If you wish to offer a minor league or minimum deal to a player it can only be for one season. If you wish to outbid a league minimum or minor league deal with a multi-year deal the annual value must exceed $1,000,000. If you wish to outbid a league minimum or minor league deal with a 1 year deal the minim raise will be 250K for every 1yr bid on that player afterwards.
Compensation
There are type of compensation:
There will be 5 categories when determining compensation. The categories are:
1B/3B/LF/RF
2B/SS/CF
C
SP
RP
Each group will have their own formula and cut off points to receive compensation. See League News for most up to date compensation ratings. There will be 2 updates every year:
-July 31st
-After the World Series
In order to receive compensation you must offer a 1 yr arbitration deal (amount determined by the 'Calculate Salaries' feature under advanced tool). If a player does not sign by spring training and he was offered arbitration he will accept the offer and return on the 1 year contract.
Players will be separated into two types of compensation: Type A and Type B. The score required to achieve Type A or Type B status is based upon statistical performance over the previous 3 seasons and is different for each category of player. The score cutoffs will change every season, to get the most up to date information on scores please consult the League News Forum or as an administrator for help.
Type A free agents will require a 1st round pick to sign. Type B free agents will require a 2nd round pick to sign.
If you sign multiple type A free agents the highest rated player (by overall) will net the 1st round pick and the second highest rated player will net the 2nd round pick (and so on if necessary). If there is a tie with the overall the team with the worst overall record from the previous season will receive the highest pick.
If you sign multiple type B free agents the same situation will occur starting with the 2nd round pick, the moving to a 3rd and 4th and so on. Same tie-breaker rules.
There is a limit of 3 compensated FA's per team in order to prevent any team from receiving worse than a 4th round pick for their compensation. In the same light if you are signing multiple compensated free agents but are also receiving a pick as compensation the incoming pick is eligible to used as compensation for your second free agent signing.
SO, if you sign 2 type B free agents but are losing one you will lose both your original pick and your incoming compensation pick. Same tie breaking rules to determine best pick as we use above. If you have any more questions about the compensation system please post in this thread or consult with an administrator!
Lastly, any compensated player has the rights to your BEST overall pick in a round. So if you acquire a higher overall pick in the same round through compensation of your own FA you will keep the lower pick and give the higher pick to the other team. FOR EXAMPLE: Player A is netting the 15th overall pick for Team A. Team A already has the 22nd overall pick naturally. Team A then goes and signs another Type A free agent. Team A will give up the 15th (the higher) of his two picks as compensation.
Player Agents
All players rated 90+ overall may not be re-signed through baseball mogul and must consult either Agent McInnis or Scott Boras to sign an extension.
Each offseason we will list which agent the player must contact to resign.
To see how we determine which agent go here
Resignings for Players Without An Agent
This rule only applies to contracts signed in Dec 2015 or later.:
In order to renegotiate a contract the new contract must exceed the current deal in years, total value and annual value. Teams and, especially, player options will be considered in this decision. If you try to circumvent this you will be fined and the severity will depend on the amount of money remaining on the contract. Again, you cannot screw over the players because the AI has loopholes. This would be both a rule violation and a violation of the don't be an ass rule.
If you wish to release a player with options on his contract you will be responsible for paying the value of those years. Again, this only applies to contracts inked after December 2015.
Any player 89 or below must be re-signed in game AND have a minimum of 5 year major league service time in order to encourage more realistic contracts and free agency classes.
Sometime in mogul a player with less than 6 years service time mogul will still grant that player free agency. If you have a player in this situation you still have a right to go to arbitration one more time. To figure out the amount you will have to sign take the amount they were awarded the previous year and multiply it by 1.33. So if your player earned 9M in his previous arbitration you'll have to offer a 1yr/12M (really 11,999,999 but only nick is counting) deal in his final year of arbitration. Unfortunately this figure isn't negotiable. To take advantage of this just post in your offseason resignings that your player has fewer than 6 years service time and you'd like to extend arby for the upcoming season.
Players with less than 6 years service time can only sign a 1 year contract in free agency and it will be an arbitration contract. Meaning if you sign them they will go to arby if they have remaining service time instead of having to be re-signed.
Trading
Both GMs must agree to the trade and it must be posted in the 'Trade Submissions' forum. The following information is required:
-Overall, Peak, Age and Salary
Our 5 trade mods then vote on weather to approve or veto the deal. Once a deal receives 3 approvals it will be input into the file and once a deal receives 3 vetos it will be moved to the 'Vetoed Trades' forum.
NOTE: Please input a trade 24 hours before a sim to guarantee approval/denial for the upcoming sim. We will try and get deals posted closer to a sim in but we cannot guarantee enough mods to review it.
Team Banks
Because in-game cash leads to your players demanding more money you may make a deposit into the FCM Bank. If your franchise is ever over 100M cash we reserve the right to make a deposit for you.
You must have over 30M in team cash in order to deposit in the bank. If at anyone you fall below this for an extended period of time money will be withdrawn from your bank and put into your account. There's leeway for trades, buyouts, etc. The idea is to minimize bank transactions and confusions assorted with them.
Sign and Trades
You may not resign (extensions excluded) a nonarbitration player with the intent of trading him. If you do this the player will be released and your team will be fined. Sign and trades do not happen in baseball because there's no incentive for the player to agree to one.
If you sign a player with more than 6 years service time then shop or trade him the following season it will be considered a sign and trade and your team will be fined and the player will be granted free agency.
Trading free agent acquisitions are inevitable, if at any point the admins feel you are abusing the system we will fine your team. A good way to avoid risk is nothing you're moving a FA you singed in the trade and why you are trading him now (for example: a prospect developed and he's now excess).
NEW INFO:Here are the guidelines to judging and enforcing violations of the No Sign and Trade Policy:
From now on the 1 year rule is mandatory. You simply cannot trade a player during the 1st year of a multi-year deal. Players signed to 1 year deals may only be traded at the deadline and may still be subject to a veto if the mods determine the player was signed with solely the intent to trade him at the deadline.
GMs trading or acquiring a player that may be considered a sign and trade must note it in the trade submission. If they do not and any of the mods do it's considered a sign and trade it will result in an automatic veto.
Sign and Trade rulings NEVER SET PRECEDENT. In other words, every potential sign and trade is judged purely in a vacuum. I think mods are meant to judge and interpret rules, not make them. If they're setting a precedent every time they rule on a sign and trade they're the lawmaker and the judge. That's not right for them or other GMs.
Mods reserve the right to approve any sign and trade they deem appropriate at any time. However, if they veto under the sign and trade policy I reserve the right to punish your team under the Don't Be An Ass rule.
GENERALLY, punishment will be limited to vetoing the deal and agents being much more difficult and unwilling to sign long-term deals. Teams who regularly trade players shortly after giving them a long term deal will now have a noticeably more difficult time with the agents, especially if the deal included a NTC.
Lastly, any player on a one year deal who passes through waivers may also be traded. Multi-year deals do not qualify until the final year of the contract under this exception.
Budgets
We have a cap for Medical and Farm spending (scouting is equalized) that will be posted and updated every offseason. If you raise your budget above the cap we reserve the right to fine your team and reduce your spending.
As far as concessions, tickets and broadcasting just update on your game file and export with your .team file and it will be automatically updated. Simmers are NOT responsible for your budget spending updates.
Don't Be An Ass Rule
This rule is exactly as it's described. Being an Ass includes, but is not limited to: finding loopholes in the rules and/or circumventing the intent of the rules, treating fellow GMs like crap, running your mouth in the chat, setting goofy depth charts in your .team files, etc.
Penalties can range from a stern talking to, to fines to even being fired. The intent of this rule is to play nice and have a good time. So in the spirit of continuing a really great league DON'T BE AN ASS!
No Trade Clauses
You can work around NTCs in 3 ways:
-Renegotiate a contract that doesn't include a NTC before the trade.
-Move friends until a player will waive his NTC for the team trading for the player with the NTC.
-Buy it out for 23M (either party or a combo of both may pay it off).
Stadium Upgrade Guidelines
Infield Quality/Grass/Visibility/Foul Ground: 5M per upgrade
Installing Convertible Top: 100M
Install Natural Grass: 10M
Upgrade Convenience/Comfort/Sight Lines: 15M per upgrade.
Seats: 2.5 mil per 100
NEW INFO:Revenue Sharing
We do Revenue Sharing exactly the same as they do IRL. Each team pays 31% of their total REVENUE into a massive pot. The massive pot is divided equally between every team in the league. You may check your projected revenue sharing costs/income by using the revenue sharing calculator found here.
Buyouts
Buyouts are now 100% of the remaining contract with two exceptions:
1) You must meet all four conditions to receive an exception:
-The contract has 2 or fewer years left in the contract.
-The injury was 50 or more days.
-The drop for overall takes the player below 80 overall.
-The drop occurs before he returns from the DL.
2) You inherited the contract as a new GM.
